The Mardale @ Bampton has been converted from a Traditional Lakeland Inn into a fantastic self-catering house sleeping up to 14 people, whilst still maintaining it’s traditional Inn charm.
Dating from the early 18th century and recently refurbished by the new owners, The Mardale is tucked away in the pleasant little village of Bampton in the Lowther Valley.
As a self-catering property you have the freedom and comfort to cater for yourselves from the purpose-built domestic kitchen, stock the original bar with your favourite drinks or simply sit in front of the log fire and watch telly or listen to music through the Sonos music system. There is another pub in the village which is an alternative for evening meals if required.
This area, known as the Eastern Fells, is one of the most rural parts of the Lake District National Park and as such it was used as the location for the 80’s cult classic film ‘Withnail & I’.
For Coast to Coasters:
We are the closest accommodation in Bampton to Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route and offer bed & breakfast accommodation during the week. The location saves the 3-mile uphill struggle to Shap, thus shortening the hardest day on the walk. Located near to Haweswater, it makes an excellent base for viewing the golden eagles, plus walking, biking, fishing and other outdoor activities.
Dogs and Children are very welcome at The Mardale.
We are situated 15 minutes drive from Junction 39 of the M6. OS ref 514181 – Postcode CA10 2RQ
